Awards and Trophies

Awards, such as trophies are given to groups and individuals for a variety of reasons, but generally signifying an achievement. Different occasions may call for different types of awards. For instance, often in sports, trophies will feature a miniature figurine playing that sport. A teacher who wants to award a child may instead issue a certificate. Diplomas are one example of a certificate award. Trophies and other awards are a common way to reward individuals and organisations for a job well done.

Issuing of Awards and Trophies:

There are a multitude of reasons that a person or group may deserve an award. The issuer may be an organisation or individual. Status of the award issuer can play a role in how valuable the award is, but that may depend on who you ask. To the recipient, any award may be valuable and a reflection of their achievement. Sportsmanship, educational achievements, corporate goals, business accomplishments are just some of the reasons people and organizations can be awarded.

Types of Award or Trophy:

Awards can come in numerous forms and a variety of materials. For instance, certificates are made of paper and may be housed in a wooden or glass frame. Awards are often made of paper, glass, metal, stone, or wood. Display cases contain those same materials, but may not always match the material of the award. Trophies, paper certificates, plaques, cups, medals, statues and shields all are examples of awards. Sporting trophies are most often comprised of medals, cups or statues. Business and academic awards are commonly represented by paper certificates or plaques.

Engraving for Awards and Trophies:

Some awards, such as plaques and trophies may have text engraved into the surface. Glass, metal, stone or wooden materials are the most common materials of trophies that are engraved. Sometimes an entire message or achievement description may be engraved. Other times, it may be the recipient's name or initials.

Engraving is an extra touch that can be added for effect and oftentimes, various font types can be selected for customisation. Sporting trophies may be engraved with the team name, the recipient's name, the achievement made and the date of that achievement.
