NEC LCD Technologies has introduced a 6.5-in. amorphous-silicon thin-film-transistor (TFT) liquid crystal display (LCD) module with high luminance and XGA resolution, equivalent to a pixel pitch of 0.129 mm. This module, NL10276BC13-01C, eliminates the need for an inverter circuit by employing a white light emitting diode (LED) for backlight instead of a cold-cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL). Benefits include a slim design (module depth of 9.5 mm max) that is both lightweight and resistant to vibration and impact, making it suitable for portable display systems. Using NEC’s super-transmissive natural light TFT (ST-NLT) technology, it can display vivid colours in environments with high ambient light.
